The Kitchen

Well it's done! I finally finished painting the cabinets... how many months later, but I'm pretty darn proud of myself for completing project number 2. Now it's on to the kids bath. Let me know what you think and tell me what I should put on top of the cabinets.

I'm sure your sis will come up with a great idea. Personally, I love greenery. If I had room above my cabinets, that's what I would have.

I have platters, a rooster and greenery above my kitchen cabinets (kinda country cottage look). With your colors I think a tuscan look would be really pretty. You are so talented though I am sure it will look great whatever you do.

Liz, what a great job on the cabinets! You are so gifted. As for what to put up there, how about a little cot for escaping the madness! Just kidding. Green plants/ivy and some large artistic pitchers would be fabulous. Thanks for sharing these little bits of life with us...I really enjoy it. :-)

i love how the white cabinets make the whole room feel clean and crisp. and cabinets are SO MUCH WORK! it turned out so nice. good job. good job.

and that's a great chandelier. so much better than the before picture.

now about your "over the cabinet" decorating space... (i love that you asked for our input - because i LOVE decorating!) this is where you get creative with what you already own because you can spend a bundle on pretty thingies to put up there. and by the way your topiaries are a great start.
#1 get some white twinkle lights up there to brighten things up. christmas lights work great. twinkle lights make everything better!
#2 take stock of your kitchen. do you have lots of white corning ware or glass plates, glass platters, glass mason jars or maybe even a bunch of baskets?
#3 i've learned that it's easiest to stick with one overall idea - like all white, or all glass or all clocks - yes clocks! have fun with it and post some pictures when you're done - i love those befores and afters.
(this was the longest comment ever!)

Bring in the animals!!!!! I say go for the Penguins,Turtles, Elephants, giraffes, and lemurs (captured in bird cages ).... But for your house you will need to bring in the snakes, lizards, etc... That way for SURE you will have no problems with the kids climbing up the walls (or your newly painted cupboards) to get to them.

Love,

Mom

HOOOOOO-RAYYY!! They look sooooooo much better. If you put fake ivy up there so help me.... I think you need a life size cut-out of Justin laying on his side sippin a (virgin) margarita hahahaha And since you've now got a ledge to put stuff on, if you're like me it'll be changing all the time. A blessing and a curse ;) Find some big stuff please, don't be sticking little tiny things up there and for heaven sakes don't line it all up in a row like a bunch of soldiers. I'm gonna have to send you a link to a blog post on this subject....you'll crack up.
