Now that I'm done reading Twilight books, I still cannot decide what to do with the paint color. We are redoing the counter tops (tile) and the cabinets are going white or cream. The hard part is the brown! Only in the kitchen? Only on one wall? Where I've started already? There's too many little square hole things! This was really meant for Rebecca, but I couldn't figure out how to email it. Now all can see our not organized clutter. Forget about the start... I think it's going white and sparkely for the girls room. Right now it's just taking up space for where I'd like a hutch to go in the future.

Looking at your house makes me excited to have my own to paint... If those square cutouts in the walls are hindering your painting, you could always trim them out in wood and stain them so you have a smooth transition, or you could trim it out in MDF and then paint it a third accent color that goes with everything. Those transition areas when painting can be tricky- good luck!
Thanks for the phone call- you know that we are at the same stage too. And I hate to do things to permanent since I'm always changing things around (hmmm...another blog post?) I guess I should leave a comment so people don't think I'm being rude...to summarize our conversation: Always take the color all the way to the wall (the focal point is NOT those surrounds), move the itty bitty clock from above your mantle to somewhere else, and find something big, cheap and with the color brown from the kitchen in it to put above your desk... thanks for the photos so I could see what it was you were talking about. We'll be waiting for follow up pictures :)
oops, I mean "that are permanent"
so the picture u put up of kennedy on the right hand side looks like a little khristie... crazy
i am so glad that it is you having to make those choices. i remember going through that. and frankly i am still doing it with some of the rooms in the house.
love the colors! they are the same as the ones in my living/kitchen too! we also have cutouts above one of the doorways. i did them in a darker brown, but my main wall colors are more beige. and then our focal wall in the dining room and the entry are also a darker brown.
good luck and let us see the finished product! i bet it will turn out great.
